PHOTOGRAPHS by Ruth Neubauer

I work with what already exists. I see significance and beauty in the ordinary. Without intention, I find myself unexpectedly captivated and compelled by texture, light, form, and surprising detail. I see mystery in nature, in the work of human beings, and in the relationship between them. Fixed in a moment in time, still-life photographs leave the viewer to wonder what came before and what may happen next which then becomes the dynamic - the conversation between the image and you.

My work as a psychotherapist for over thirty years has profoundly enhanced my appreciation for all things seen and unseen, known and unknown. Over time, my photographs have become more and more abstract becoming less attached to place or time.
